Federal Government scraps post-UTME for prospective tertiary students

Federal Government on Thursday scrapped the conduct of post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, post UTME, for candidates seeking admission into higher institutions, adding that there was no need for other examination to be conducted by universities after the one conducted by JAMB.

Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who stated this in Abuja after declaring open the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria, said all tertiary institutions were at liberty to conduct screening for candidates seeking admission into any school.

FG approves redeployment of permanent secretaries

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has approved the deployment of five permanent secretaries with Dr
Jamila Shu’ara, moved from Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (Career Management Office) to Federal Ministry of Aviation.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, who announced this in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, said that the
effective date of this posting is Monday, February 10, 2014.

The statement signed by the Director, Communication, indicated that Mr Ossi George A. who is the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of
Aviation has been moved to Police Service Commission.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (Political Affairs Office) Mallam Abbas Mohammed, has been redeployed to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation
(Career Management Office) to take over from Shu’ara, who has been moved to Aviation.

Other affected permanent secretaries are: Ambassador Abdulkadir Musa, of Police Service
Commission, now moved to Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment while Mr Dauda Kigbu of Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment is
moved to Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.

Goni Aji, in the statement, also directed that all handing and taking over should be completed on or before Friday, February 14, 2014.
