Lessons from Christmas

God had seen that man had no solution to his numerous problems. He stepped in to help man. Being a merciful God, who would not want us destroyed; decided to send Jesus Christ to this World. It is clear that only man can save man from problem. That was why Christ had to come like a man. Moreover, whoever would save a sinner must be sinless. No wonder Jesus Christ had to come through a virgin, without sexual intercourse.

When it was time for Christ to be born, there was a need for a vessel to convey the Gift of God. In the whole World, there was no one fit enough to convey the Gift, except Mary.

Mary was known to be the fiancee of Joseph. She was decent and God fearing. She was located for this great assignment and she successfully carried out the divine assignment.

History can never forget the extra- ordinary character of Mary that stood her out among her contemporary. While she decided to live a decent life, she did not have premonition of What God was to do through her.

In the same vein, there is a need to recognise an important role played by Joseph, the to be husband. He was decent and feared God. He was not judgemental when he discovered that his wife was pregnant. He shew true love, he bore the condition or situation together with Mary. He  stood by her against any external aggression with the help of God.

If it were to be today, Mary would have been taken to the public opinion court. Mary would have been condemned for been pregnant before wedding. No wonder the Scripture says "do not judge, for you not to be judged"; because God knows everything.

Birth of Christ was announced to the World. An Angel announced the birth of Christ. A special star was seen by the Astrologers. The Shepherds heard about the birth as well. Host Angels celeberated His birth. Herod further announced His birth, by trying to kill Jesus Christ.

As Jesus Christ's birth was not hidden, His death was not hidden. Likewise His coming would not be hidden. Be prepared to meet your Lord. Confess your sin and invite Jesus Christ into your life. As we are celebrating Christ today, What is your relationship with Christ?
