Another Icon has joined the political race!

According to the Nigerian Watch, The Entertainment Icon, Otunba Dayo Adeneye, popularly know as D1, has joined the political race for 2015. Bellow is the press release of the Icon

History was made last weekend as one of Nigeria’s renowned entertainment guru and media baron, Otunba Adedayo Olumide Adeneye (D-One) joined the political race on a mission to rescue and rebuild the future of his people at Odogbolu Constituency of Ogun state, South West Nigeria.

The Entertainment guru and co-founder of Primetime Entertainment who is vying to be a member of the Ogun state House of Assembly under APC  has been in consultations with various interest groups in his Odogbolu constituency before now.

Otunba Dayo Adeneye who has been frequently summoned by his people at the Odogbolu constituency of Ogun state finally succumbed to the yearnings of thousands of young and old people in the constituency who want him to bring forth his innovative leadership to the development of his people in Ogun state. 

D-One who is coming into politics with an over two decade career which cuts across education, broadcasting and business management is seen as one of the biggest assets for the much desired “Change” that has become the lead philosophy of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Ogun state and the entire country.

Acceding to the demand of his people last weekend during a meeting with leaders of thought and youth in Odogbolu constituency of Ogun state, D-One said “The invitation is an invitation to service and I am quite humbled to bring back home the entire knowledge I have garnered around the world, to change and lead. To whom much is given, much is equally expected and because my root is here I am ready to sacrifice my all for service”

Born Adedayo Olumide Adeneye on March 23^rd 1960, D-One and his partner and “twin brother” Kehinde (Kenny) Ogungbe revolutionalized the entire Nigerian entertainment and broadcast industry in 1996 at their return from America where they both studied Mass Communication on a master’s level with emphasis on Radio and Television Production while D-One also acquired a BSc in Business Administration

Their innovative ideas and touch of genius with Nigeria’s first  twenty four hour radio broadcast  with Raypower FM  heralded a new all round the clock culture that later became the standard for local radio broadcast in Nigeria. D-One and his partner, Keke achieved the same culture with Television broadcast as their innovative ideas brought about the massive success of AIT all subsidiaries of DAAR Communications owned by High Chief (Dr.) Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi.

D-One had his primary education at St. Catherine’s Nursery and Primary School, Surulere between 1970 and 1975. He later moved to Ijebu-Ode Grammar School in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state where he obtained his Higher School Certificate. He was at Federal School of Arts and Science, Victoria Island, Lagos between 1980 and 1981 before he got an admission to study at the prestigious Southern University of New Orleans, USA where he bagged a BSC degree in Business Administration in 1985. Between 1985 and 1986 he also bagged a Masters’ degree in Mass Communication with emphasis on Radio and Television production from Southern University, Baton Rouge, USA

D-One had his first work experience at THRIFTY Corporation Los Angeles, USA where he worked between 1986 and 1989 as an Assistant Manager before he was promoted to the post of a manager before he resigned three years later.

The very dynamic Odogbolu born media icon later went into a seven years teaching experience at Inglewood, Los Angeles; he worked with several education institutions at Los Angeles Unified School District, California, USA where he taught all subjects including mathematic , English, Science and history. For three years he was put in charge of gifted student’s class at the elementary school (6^th grade). He was a member of California Teachers Association (CTA) between 1988 and 1989 and also a distinguished earner of the California Teacher’s Credential /Certificate. 

In 1996, he returned to Nigeria with his brother and partner Kenny Ogungbe on the prodding of Keke’s in-law Chief Raymond Dokpesi to establish Raypower and AIT.

 At DAAR Communications PLC, D-One served as Program Manager of the group with prime duties of creating contents and coordinating air talents for both the radio and TV arm of the media group.  He held the position between 1996 and 1997. He was later promoted as Marketing Director of DAAR COMMUNICATIONS PLC and served in that position between 1997 and 2001. He was saddled with the prime responsibilities of sourcing revenue for the group through sales of air time, sponsorship (Both programs and special events) and coordinating the entire marketing staff of the group to ensure a reasonable meet-up of monthly and yearly target. 

As marketing Director of DAAR COMMUNICATIONS, D-One’s office developed a corporate relationship with top leaders in Cooperate Nigeria which includes GLO, UNILEVER NIG PLC, Coca-cola PLC, MTN Nigeria, Zain Nigeria and Guiness Nigeria PLC to mention a few.

From 2001 till date; D-One is the Co-CEO, Primetime Entertainment which is prized as Nigeria’s best entertainment Television and Radio program with an African entertainment perspective.  He also seats as director on boards of several groups which includes Sierra Global Communications Ltd and DC Group. 

Otunba Dayo Adeneye is the winner of several awards within and outside Nigeria some of which includes; African Television and Video Awards (TAVA) 2010, Lagos Enterprise Awards (2007), Global Excellence Recognition Award (Media Business); City People Hall of Fame Special Recognition Awards, Mode Men Awards (2011) among several other awards and honors. He is also a United Nations’ Ambassador for Peace and Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ambassador

His coming into politics alongside other eminent entertainment personalities is seen as a new development that will elevate the Nigerian political industry from its commonplace perception to a new techno-savvy sector with a conglomerate of seasoned professionals and in line with the CHANGE philosophy of APC.

Osita ‘Pawpaw’ Iheme Inspires Students With New Book

Nollywood actor, Osita Iheme, well known as Pawpaw, who just received an endorsement from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), has reportedly contracted Africana First Publishers Plc to print and distribute copies of his new book called 'INSPIRE 101' to different schools in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT Abuja) to form part of their library and research materials.

‘Inspire 101’ was reviewed by respectable individuals like Professor Pat Utomi, Mr. Dimgba Igwe and ace comedian, Ali Baba. It was also vetted by Nigeria Educational Regulatory Commission, NERDC.

The actor explained that, “This is a dream come true, I pray and believe that the ‘Inspire 101’ (book) will have a direct positive impact on students and any other person that reads it. It is the fragment of my thoughts and beliefs that drove and elevated me from my ‘not too comfortable background’ to a better person in the society.

''My sister inlaw came to pray with me last two years. She said she was experiencing ill luck during the week. So many nasty things happening to her.I prayed wit her and the Spirit led me to ask her what hair she had on, she said indian. My husband likes human hair. So even though I like my full dreadlocks kind of hairstyles, I give him what he likes most times. I have done brazilian and Peruvian hair so thought to try something different and more

natural which is Indian hair.

Last weekend I ordered for it and made it. Prayed on it and believed it was fine.



Yesterday night (march 14,2013)I had the strangest of dreams. I saw that I made a hair that allowed me to pack it thus project my face and make it look slimmer. All of a sudden, I got into a scuffle wit 3 people who began to chase me all over the place to kill me. I got off from them narrowly and ran into a market. There, a mad man began to chase me.



I escaped him narrowly then 2 Molester-thugs came after me. All the while, I felt I was carrying someone else's face.



I ran into a house with people praying. The lady in charge there looked at me and showed me a picture of my self with my regular synthetic dread-like hair and said "but that is ur regular look, why are you carrying someone elses face. Then from no where another lovely lady came from outside, drew me to the corner and began to ask me about my look. She said "you are having problems with your hair right?" Whilst she was talking, I noticed something in her mouth; a bowl of cowries and the face of a Benin god,i looked closer and asked her what it was and why she had it.



She said her man likes her because of that decor in her mouth---cowries and the face of a god like a shrine in one's mouth?

she also said that she is comfortable and that it's beautiful.



I woke up and prayed and immediately understood what the message was but didn't want to let go of my cute human hair that cost so much.



I decided to ask my husband because he interpretes dreams accurately.



He immediately told me to remove the hair. At the same time, the Spirit told me to cut it off and not remove it gracefully bevause it tried to bring me shame and pain.



Cut it off, anoint your head, anoint and pray on the hair to refute all ill and do not just throw it away but BURN IT. I obeyed.



I have decided to only carry my natural hair or synthetic hair.



This is because the Bible says; "The hair is the woman's crowning glory". Carrying another's is like carrying the other person's spirit. The worst is even Indian. Nothing wrong with Indians; They are beautiful and we love them especially in Films but those hairs sold are sacrifices to gods. Thus, they are cursed.



There are loads of other human-looking hair made with synthetic in the market if you want that look or if you insist on wearing real human hair, try those from other Countries but pray on them and be ready to bear any consequence''.

Nollywood actress, Clarion Chukwura Speaks On Why She didn't terminate Her son,

The best way to treat an unwanted pregnancy to most girls is to abort, but at times abortion is not always the best option, Only God knows what will become of the child, Not many people are aware of the fact that the most popular music director in Nigeria, Clarence Peters, is Nollywood actress, Clarion Chukwura and Afro-juju legend ,Sir Shina Peters, child. Clarion said she took care of Clarence on her own till he became who he is today. In a recent chat with The Nation, she spoke of her reasons for not aborting Clarence even though she had the opportunity. Read excerpts below:

”You know what? It is not because Clarence is successful today. Clarence knows the truth and those who are close to me know the truth. I didn’t have Clarence because I was too helpless to get rid of his pregnancy. I had three sets of friends: there was Dr. Ojikutu( pauses)… when I was in the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), he was ready to do it, free of charge. There was St. Lawrence in Ibadan and St. Jude here in Lagos.

But each time, I said no. I lost my father when I was 11 and he left a message that he was going to come back to me through my first kid. So, when I got pregnant, it kept ringing in my head that my father was coming back to me. Even my ex- husband knew how much my father meant to me. It was on his 30th anniversary that I was able to let go of the hurt of his death. Having Clarence was deliberate. I just had the conviction that my father was coming back. "Why I always Play Bad Roles" – Actress Patience Ozokwor

 

The case of Nollywood Actress Patience Ozokwor is an ironic way of life, Most people love Patience Ozokwor, because according to them she is Kind-Hearted on the inside and in the real world. But the reverse is the case whenever she picks up a movie script, Movie lovers call her Margaret Thatcher of Nollywood, but she is so tender and kind-hearted when she is not on set. Patience Ozokwor, aka Mama G, in a new interview with Yes magazine, explained why she usually plays wicked, evil woman roles.

Why do you always take up the role of a bad woman in movies?

People should admit that I have something to play! People are known for stunts, romance, bad boys and girls, gigolo and so on, but I have that as my strong point. It was when I was coming up that I thought I might get hurt or be hated for playing those roles but I never knew it was going to even make me popular and loved.

The roles I play most times are very vibrant and make people want to watch all my movies; even if I play the role of a good woman now my fans will start complaining, you understand? And if your fans start complaining that they don’t want you in a particular role, it makes the producers want to give me those bad woman roles the more.

I don’t ask for it, they just give it to me and if the script I get has something new and my fans are anxious of what the role is going to be like, I can make it different from what I used to do.

It is not easy to play bad roles at all times. Ask any artiste around you and they will tell you it’s not easy to cry and shout on set at the same time when it isn’t your normal self. It is not an easy task at all.

Hollywood legend Shirley Temple dies at 85

Hollywood legend Shirley Temple has died at the age of 85, her family announced today. According to the Blogger Linda Ikeji, The actress who found fame as a child star in the 1930s and became the youngest person to receive an Academy Award (She won a special juvenile Oscar in 1935) died on Monday February 10th at her home in Woodside, California, from natural causes.

Shirley Temple was one of the most popular child stars in Hollywood history, getting her first film role at the age of three in 1932. She is No. 18 on the American Film Institute's list of the greatest female American screen legends of all time. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.

Top Yoruba Actor, Ibrahim Chatta’s Marriage To Former Gov. Lafiaji’s Daughter Is Shattered!

The marriage between Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta and his wife, Salamatu Lafiaji, the daughter of former Kwara State governor, Senator Shaaba Lafiaji, has crashed irretrievably.

It should be recalled that Chatta and Salamotu got married in April 2013, shortly after his first marriage crashed due to allegations of wife-beating which he emphatically denied. Ibrahim had maintained that his ex-wife, Olayinka Solomon, never stayed at home, or bothered to take care of their child.

This, he said, was what drove him into the arms of Salamotu in the first place. However, the short-lived union has hit the rocks. Close family sources revealed that the couple, who made their home in the Ikotun area of Lagos, started having problems shortly after their marriage due to class of differences.

Salamotu, who comes from a wealthy home, according to sources, was not too comfortable with the living conditions in Chatta’s home, and this put a strain on the relationship until two weeks ago when she finally moved out of the house. Her mother had once visited the couple’s home and she was shattered at the poor living conditions of her daughter in the Lagos suburb.

Interestingly, shortly after their marriage, Chatta had come out to debunk tales that he is a ‘gold digger,’ maintaining that he didn’t marry Salamotu because of her money. He blamed some journalists for peddling false stories about his person, stating that he may have humble beginnings but he would never sell his soul for money.
According to him, “Truthfully, Salamat is a beautiful woman and she’s from a well-to-do family, but if I intended to marry for money, I wouldn’t have been available when she came along. Some of my very good fans and friends can testify to the fact that I searched for well over two years for the right woman after the relationship between me and my baby mama turned sour, even on social media like Facebook. I am not a gold digger like some people wrote about me, I started life doing all sorts of menial jobs like hawking ice cream, selling meat, and even worked as a bus conductor. Those that knew me then can testify to the fact that I will never sell my conscience for money. I like to hold my head high,” he declared when the going was still smooth.

All efforts to get Ibrahim’s comment on the development proved abortive as his phone rang repeatedly without response on Saturday. He also ignored text messages sent to him on the subject.
